Final Thought: I really enjoyed this series. Not all board books are created equal. My First Book Series is an engaging group of books, that T loved. T is working on learning new words, and these books really stimulated his curiosity. I love that he asks to be read to now, and these have been our go to books the last several days. If you want to get these books, check them out on Amazon HERE

Outside Magazine Online - 7 Questions with Mountaineer Mom Sophie Helenek
7 Questions with Mountaineer Mom Sophie Helenek
"Raising our baby girl is our new Everest."
You can call Sophie Helenek many things: a recovering investment banker, the youngest French woman to climb Mount Everest, and—as of 2013—a mother. But having her daughter wasn't going to terminate Helenek's six-year love affair with climbing. We caught up with Helenek via email to talk about staying active during pregnancy, exploring with babies, and her book series written for infants.
- How did you make the decision to start a family?
- How did you stay active and fit during your pregnancy?
- Has it been difficult to get back into shape since having the baby?
- Describe the process of writing your books.
- How do you incorporate books into parenting?
- As an adult, what books do you enjoy? - Do you encourage your daughter to lead an active, adventurous life?

Mountaineer and inspiration to all women, Sophie Denis INTERVIEW
Mountaineer and inspiration to all women, Sophie Denis dropped her career as a U.S. banker, moved to France, and made mountain climbing her full-time job. She has climbed mountains of various heights all over the world and feels more empowered by each mountain she climbs. But now Sophie’s aiming to climb six of Earth’s highest mountains this year, with the overall aim to be the first French person to realize one of the most difficult human endeavors on the planet: an ascent of the world’s 14 elite 8,000-meter peaks.
INTERVIEW EXTRACT:
WAM: What would you like all women to know?
SD: You can be the woman you want to be. Through my performance, I hope to instill awareness on the individual endless possibility and inspire and empower women to climb their own Mount Everest.
WAM: How has climbing influenced other aspects of your life?
SD: When I am climbing, I take the opportunity to be more relaxed and take time for myself, to be spiritual and be in touch with nature. I try to remember this state of mind when I get stressed, unhappy, or overwhelmed. Climbing influences my psyche positively, takes me higher on one hand but down to earth on the other hand. I live with the locals; I am learning their culture, their language, and their traditions. It is as rich a human adventure as an outstanding sportive endeavor.

PART 2 of Sophie's Portrait interview - EXPLORERSWEB
PART 2 of my portrait interview
with Angela Benavides
from EXPLORERSWEB
Interview Extract:
Sophie: I know that my background is unusual, as my confidence and high spirit in undertaking new challenges. It goes from my climbing challenge to moving to US without knowing a word of English, to .... re-inventing yourself, and always thinking beyond "the norm" is my life philosophy. My motto : Everything is possible :)
My challenge, or even me (too happy on the hill) could irritate/hurt some climbers' egos. But I don't want to play that game. I just do things for me, because I love it, and it is a challenge between me and me.
