Expedition team in Tingri
Ben (leader of Cho Oyu expedition) called the field touring compagny yesterday from Tingri to let the home team know that all is well for our group. They have used the days in Nyalam and Tingri to acclimatize and they have all hiked to 5000m and are feeling well. The hikes on the hills near Tingri are dry and desolate and by this time they are all wearing some sort or protection from the ever present dust.
Ben (chef du Cho Oyu expédition) a appelé la compagnie qui organise l'expédition de Tingri pour faire savoir que toute l'équipe se prote très bien. Ils ont profité des quelques jours à Nyalam et Tingri pour s'acclimater et ils sont montés jusqu'à 5000m et se sont tous sentis très bien. Par ce temps, les collines près de Tingri sont sèches et désolées, aussi ils portent tous une sorte de la protection contre la poussière omniprésente pendant leurs marches.
Nonetheless the views are astounding of Cho Oyu and the valley below and the sensation of nearing the worlds 6th highest peak is no doubt beginning to get everyone very excited. After their last, and mercifully short, drive today our team will finally get under their own leg power and begin the expedition proper.
Néanmoins, les vues de Cho Oyu et de la vallée en contre bas sont stupéfiantes et le fait de se rapprocher du sixième plus haut sommet du monde commence à sur exciter tout le monde. Après leur dernier et heureusement court voyage en voiture, d'aujourd'hui, l'équipe va enfin commencer à progresser à pied et ainsi commencer l'expédition proprement dite.
On the 16th they plan to drive from Tingri to Chinese BC where they will be for one or two nights while the Yaks are arranged to transport the mountain of gear to the Advanced Base Camp. They will have one night on the way in at Intermediate Base Camp and will good luck will arrive at ABC on the 19th or 20th.
Aussi, le 16, ils ont l'intention de se rendre à Tingri en voiture d'où ils se rendront au Camp de Base Chinois, où ils resteront une ou deux nuits pendant que les yacks apporteront leurs matériels au camp de base avancé. Lors de la montée, ils passeront une nuit au camp de base intermédiaire et si tout se déroule comme prévu, ils devront arriver au camp de base avancé (ABC) le 19 ou le 20.
