Snowman

Yesterday it snowed about 10".
So I've decided to do a snowman, which I haven't done for a long long time.

I let my inspiration flow, and I end up doing a snowman which looks like more than stupa than anything else ;-)

Mount Washington Climb via the Boott Spur Trail

With my husband John and our dog, we climbed Mount Washington(highest peak in the Northeastern United States) via the Boott Spur Trail 3 weeks ago.

We had a great time. The views above the tree line were quite spectacular.

I'm almost 5 months pregnant so we took it easy, walked slowly, drank plenty of water and took lots of breaks. It was just perfect!

Our altitude gain from our starting point to the top of Mount Washington is about 3,000ft or 1.000m

On the way down, we got cut in a storm. Rain was heavy and rocks were slippery. We could hear the thunders getting closer; we rushed down to reach the tree line. Fortunately the lightings changed direction and we finished the hike under the rain. Thanks to our good Gortex, the rain did not bother us. We had a very good day.

DETAILS Boot Spur: The Boott Spur Trail is a longer route to the summit. It climbs the ridge between the Gulf of Slides and Tuckerman Ravine, which means you will be above treeline for a much longer period of time. On nice days, this can be a wonderful, less crowded way to go. http://www.mountwashingtonavalanchecenter.org/avalanche-safety/trails/boott-spur-trail-boot-spur-link/ Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boott_Spur

DETAILS Mount Wahington: Mount Washington is the highest peak in the Northeastern United States at 6,288 ft (1,917 m), famous for dangerously erratic weather. For 76 years, until 2010, a weather observatory on the summit held the record for the highest wind gust directly measured at the Earth's surface, 231 mph (372 km/h) (or 103 m/s), on the afternoon of April 12, 1934. Before European settlers arrived, the mountain was known as Agiocochook, or "Home of the Great Spirit". http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mount_Washington_(New_Hampshire)

Londres 2012 : les Jeux Olympiques d'été

JEUX OLYMPIQUES 2012

Happy Nepali New Year 2069 !!!!

Nepali Calendar (Bikram Sambat)

Nepal follows a different calendar system than in the West. According to this system, 2003-2004 is Bikram Sambat 2060. The New Year begins in mid-April. Like the Julian system, there are 12 months, each month beginning around the middle of a Western month.
* Festival dates are, however, determined by lunar calendar.

Extraits du livre "LE MONT ANALOGUE (1952)" de René Daumal

Le Mont Analogue de René Daumal Click here to read it in English

On l’écoute.

A quoi bon, alors ?

~ • ~

On monte,
on voit.
On redescend,
on ne voit plus ;
mais on a vu.

~ • ~

The Art of Climbing Mountains

The Art of Climbing Mountains

You cannot always stay on the summits
You have to come down again . . .
So what’s the point?
Only this: what is above knows what is below,
what is below does not know what is above.

~ • ~

One climbs,
One sees.
One descends,
One sees no longer,
But one has seen.

~ • ~

There is an art of conducting oneself in the lower regions
by the memory of what one saw higher up.
When one can no longer see,
one can at least still know.”

~ • ~

A climber far more experienced than I told me,
“when your feet will no longer carry you,
you have to walk with your head.”

~ • ~

Happy Thanksgiving !

There isn't anything as exciting as being at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in person.
Enjoying watching the giant balloons floating in the air in the streets of Manhattan beneath brilliant sunshine, with the festive mood

On Wednesday afternoon, we went to see the balloon being inflated:
